Hey guys, you are listening to the English Made Simple show, this is episode number 2-1-2, number two hundred and twelve, numero dos cientos doce.

Welcome to another episode of the English Made Simple show, my name is Milena and I am the host of the show, you can find me at www.englishmadesimple.net.

Can I ask you a quick question?

If you are listening to this episode in January of 2019, then this question applies to you.

Are you still in the holiday mood?

It’s still holiday time in Australia, the official work day starts on the 21st of Jan, I believe. Some people go back to work earlier but normally the majority of people return to work on the 21st.

I wonder if it’s the same in other countries around the world.

Anyhow, today amigos. I want to tell you about the first Audio Masterclass of 2019 that I will be running on 21st January. And you are invited!

I call it: The Art of English Pronunciation.

I kinda like that name.

I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about it as it’s about to start.

The masterclass is four weeks long. As a matter of fact, I created a really cool diagram of the course outline that you can check out at www.englishmadesimple.net/masterclass

That will explain the Masterclass in a nutshell.

In a nutshell is an English expression by the way and it means “in simple words”. The diagram I posted will explain the masterclass in simple words.

So here is what will happen inside this Masterclass.

When you join the Masterclass, you will be given a couple of tongue twisters that you can use to warm up your tongue for English language. Sometimes I practice these tongue twisters before I record my episode just because I tend to trip up while I am recording. Sometimes I mix SH and S because it may be too late in the day when I am recording and may be tired. The tongue twisters help me pronounce certain letters correctly. I think even movie stars and celebrities use tongue twisters before giving speeches.

I’ve done an episode about tongue twisters that was in episode number 93 called Tongue Twisters. This is trabalenguas in Spanish.

In this week I also give you a short survey to answer quick questions about yourselves, because that’s what we will strive to achieve by the end of the course. I want you to confidently describe what you do for a living, or what you studied and what your hobbies are.

By the end of the course you will be able to confidently talk about yourself. This would come in handy when you apply for job interviews.

You will also start to build your vocabulary list throughout the masterclass.

Ok amigos in WEEK ONE

We are going to learn the Basics of English Pronunciation. This will include things like:
How to pronounce regular verbs
How to pronounce tricky words
How to pronounce words with apostrophes
How to read the Phonetic Alphabet to help you with pronunciation.
Using linking phrases when speaking
Using contrasting and comparative phrases which will help you when explaining two ideas.

That’s in Week ONE.

It will be a bit of theory to prepare you for the rest of the course.

In Week TWO

We are going to get our hands dirty.

That’s an expression. To get your hands dirty is an expression amigos y amigos.

According to Weon Inteligente or the Online Dictionary to get your hands dirty means to take action.

I am going to ask you to record your voice.

You will be out of your comfort zone I am sure.

I am going to ask you to do a short exercise and record your voice so I can hear your pronunciation.
I will then give you a personalized feedback in a form of audio or video. It will be specific feedback to you. So it will be like you are receiving private lessons from me.

So in Week 2, you will receive a short exercise that will force you to speak in English.

Hopefully that was clear :)

Now onto Week number THREE

Have you ever tried to read something in English? Read it out loud. This is a completely different skill that will test your pronunciation.

I am going to give you an article to read, just a couple of paragraphs… you will be really surprised how difficult this task really is.

Again I am going to ask you to send me a recording of your reading exercise so I can hear your pronunciation and provide feedback.

You will instantly know where you need to focus on.

I tried this exercise in Spanish, I read something out to my husband in Spanish and he cringed. He said: I have no idea what you just read. Haha

As I said, it’s no easy feat. It is a difficult exercise, but a real eye-opener. It will open your eyes to English pronunciation.

In the Final Week, Week 4 you are going to record your voice and tell me about yourself.

This is your opportunity to tell me everything about yourself, it’s the answers from the survey that we’ll do at the start of the masterclass.

Again, I will provide feedback to each one of you individually and tell you where you need to focus on.

Guys, this is the new way of learning. I am implementing this new process to learn English. It happens in real time, you get live feedback and the best thing of all the exercises can be done in your own time.

I know we are all busy with our daily commitments, going to work, picking up kids from kindy, partying and going to school. But you can squeeze 1 hour in your week to focus on learning English.

So the whole idea of this masterclass is to help you, improve your fluency, expand your vocabulary and build up your confidence.

Thanks for joining me once again. You’ve been an awesome audience as always. You’ve been jamming with Milena from English Made Simple. Until next time. Hasta la proxima! :)
