Learn More Conversation Starters

Today, we carry on from the previous episode. We are going to learn a couple of more conversation starters. The two phrases you’ll learn are: “Who is the host?” and “Can you please explain how this group works?” I’m also going to explain what a conversation starter is, just in case you didn’t know. Enjoy today’s show :)

Hey guys, you are listening to English Made Simple, this is episode number 2-2-7, number two-hundred and twenty-seven, numero doscientos veintisiete

(jingle)

Welcome back everyone, thanks for tuning in to today’s show, my name is Milena and I am the host of the English Made Simple show, you can find me at www.englishmadesimple.net, englishmadesimple (punto) net.

So did you enjoy the last episode where I introduced to the new segment called: Repeat After Me?

I hope you enjoyed that, I tried to make it fun by including Weon Inteligente. If you are new to the show and you don’t know who Weon Inteligente is then go back to episode number 226 and have a listen. You’ll also hear a little bit more about this new segment called Repeat After Me and learn more about Meetup.com.

By the way, just reminding you, I only mention Meetup because I used them in the past, however I am sure there are other groups that you can join online that do similar thing. Meetup is a community of like-minded people. So you can find a group in any category not just language learning.

I used it in Melbourne to practice my limited Spanish.

Oki doki.

And before we proceed, how many of you went to a meetup since I mentioned it 2 weeks ago?

Why not?

Now, let’s carry on with today’s show.

Today, I am going to teach you a couple of easy conversation starters that you can use when you attend of the meetup groups or whenever really. Again, it doesn’t have to be a meetup group.

But let’s say you wanted to attend our fictional meetup group called English Learner’s Club.
I just invented this group, it doesn’t exist. Or someone can go and create it now if they wanted to.

So if you remember from my last episode, I was describing an imaginary scene, pretending that you were going to attend this meetup, right?

We were looking for the group called English Learner’s Club and we couldn’t find it easily. So we had to ask someone to make sure we were at the right place.

We learnt the phrase:

Excuse me, is this a meetup group?

Right, easy peasy japanesy.
