I had an interesting day yesterday, I’d like to tell you about it. I tried to have a chit-chat with one coffee barrista here in Australia. And I tried to do it in Spanish! The coffee guy was from Mexico.

I must tell you…. this must be the shortest story you would’ve heard from me.

And after that you’ll have a very short Repeat After Me feature.

But before I dive into my story. I’d like to let you know that I’ve updated the Audio Book called: How To Simplify A Conversation.

I wanted to make it a practical and actionable exercise so that you can put the ideas you’ve learnt into practice.

It will motivate you to take action and start chatting with others so that you can overcome any fear or anxiety you feel when you speak in English.

So this is for you if you regularly need to use English when you go outside… For example, when you are going shopping, when you are going to the gym, when you are going to the doctor or a dentist I should say.

The 3-Day mini course teaches you about preparation so that you gain confidence when it’s time to speak in English.

I remember in my early days, I would be too shy to speak with others in English and now look at me, I run a podcast!

Ok and then after the 3 days, you’ll have a chance to participate in a speaking challenge which is about starting conversations, but most importantly getting you out of your comfort zone which in turn will make you more confident to speak in English.

The speaking challenge is called #TheConvoStarter.

I’m really excited to tell you about the speaking challenge I created, it’s called “The Convo Starter: 21 Conversation Starters in 21 Days” which focuses on practical, actionable and simple phrases you can say anywhere in order to confidently spark conversations in English with anyone you meet in real life.

So for 21 days, you’ll be receiving a different conversation starter every day for 21 days. Again, the conversation starters are quite simple. The challenge for you is to go out and use this convo starter on someone…in real life.

You’ll also be able to post your results on Instagram and share you experience with the challenge.

I think I’ve run one challenge in the past, but this challenge is better!

So now, onto my quick story about my recent attempt to make small talk in Spanish…
Bear in mind, I haven’t spoken Spanish in 3 years now.

And this is why it is a very quick story.

So, I went to order coffee and the person serving me had an accent. So I said, oh Hola, eres latino?
And he replied to me in Spanish and I didn’t get it. And I said ok gracias.

Embarrassing haha

I immediately switched to English so we chatted for a couple of minutes.

It was a fun experience anyway! So I have to practice Spanish conversation starters haha.

You can repeat this after me: Hola…. That means hello in Spanish.
