And we are back, first week of 2017 woohooo! Hola amigos, you are listening to English Made Simple, this is episode #69 – numero sesenta y nueve.
Let’s dance a bit ok? (intro)

Welcome to English Made Simple, yes I am here guys, still recovering from my New Year’s celebrations

For those of you who don’t know me, for those of you who are joining EMS for the first time, welcome amigos, my name is Milena from www.englishmadesimple.net, and this show is teaching you do’s and don’t’s of the English language, you know what I mean, how to speak English confidently, I teach you the most common English expressions and sayings, plus some commonly confused verbs like, for example, to Come and to Go, just go back and check out the previous shows, there is a lot, you will learn heaps! Heaps is often used in an informal way meaning a lot!

You will learn a lot! That’s what I mean.

English Made Simple is a show released twice per week helping you with improving your English faster, that’s the idea of this show, that’s why I am here.

Excellent! And to my regular listeners, welcome back for the 69th time – great to have you back, now let’s kick off this year in style. Gangnam style!

C’mon Milena, let’s get crackin with today’s show.

After the New Year we usually reflect back on the previous year, how it all went, what we achieved and what we’ve learnt, you know each one of us has probably experienced sadness at some stage in 2016, we have also experienced happiness as well, but most importantly we have all experienced some sort of craziness. I sure did!

I hope you found my episode about Goals Setting useful, that was episode #67 – this episode helps you plan to do something that’s completely out of your comfort zone for 2017 – one of you goals this year could be to do Sky Diving, jump out of a plane with a parachute, for example uhm… well that could be one goal for this year…for someone else…not for me! I am too scared of heights… Anyway, good luck with that if you are doing that this year!

So listen up amigos y amigas, let’s start this year off with a bang!

I have collated some inspirational quotes to help you stay motivated and to prepare you for this New Year! As we all know, learning a new language can be tricky, can be a challenge and I want you to succeed at learning English, so I prepared some quotes about “success and overcoming challenges” to help you move forward. I hope that was one of your goals for 2017! I hope learning English was one of your goals for 2017.

Anyway, let’s begin shall we?

Here are the top 5 or 6 quotes, I forgot now how many I’ve got here, I have a few quotes, anyway, let’s start, the first quote…

The first quote by Vidal Sassoon:

The only place where success comes before work is in the Dictionary – Vidal Sassoon. La única parte en que el éxito esta antes del trabajo es en el diccionario.

I like that quote. I will translate some quotes into Spanish but the rest will be all in English. Ok
The next quote is by Walt Disney, it’s to do with dreams…

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them – Walt Disney

Basically what he is telling us is (to) Follow your dreams!
The next one by Eleanor Roosevelt….I really like this one, this is to do with Challenge.

Do one thing every day that scares you – Eleanor Roosevelt

Do something out of your comfort zone…ooops! That’s the next quote! The next quote will tie in well with Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote, it goes like this:

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone – Neale Donald Walsch La vida empieza cuando dejas de sentirte cómodo.

Don’t be too comfortable! You need to do something, that’s a bit scary, and a bit uncomfortable…it will help you grow.

Ok, I’ve got 2 more quotes, I’ve used one of these before, Albert Einstein:

Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. Albert Einstein. Alguien que nunca ha cometido un error, nunca ha probado algo Nuevo.

What he is trying to say, is that it’s ok to make a mistake because that’s how we learn! In Espanol, in Spanish it would be: Alguien que nunca ha cometido un error, nunca ha probado algo Nuevo. Albert Einstein.

Cool!

The last one by Lao Tzu. I love this! The next quote is really good!

The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step – Lao Tzu

What this means is that even the hardest of the goals, the most difficult of the goals, have a starting point, everybody had to start from somewhere, start with a single step!
Oki doki.

Excellent amigos, I’ve got 2 more quotes. Ok?

And then we are approaching the end of the show. Here are a couple of extra quotes that are short and sweet and to the point, directo al hueso.

Don’t wait for opportunity. Create it.

And the last one for people who like to procrastinate a lot, a very simple quote:

Start now, not tomorrow.

If you have goals to accomplish this year, then start one, not tomorrow! Start today, not tomorrow! Start now!

Thanks for joining me for today’s episode amigos, it’s been a pleasure, I hope you found at least one quote that resonates with you and your current goals. Wishing you the very best for 2017 again!

Keep going forward and I’ll catch you on the flipside!
Until next time! Hasta la proxima!
